Creative people don't follow rules, they don't necessarily break them either, they almost always make their own.

Pastels

For this pastel project we started with black construction paper.  Then, outlined the parrots, filled with white oil pastel for a base.  Added the desired colors to the parrot. It was super easy and best of all super fun.
This project was painted by a ten year old

I am still far from being what I want to be, but with God's help I shall succeed.

                        Vincent Van Gough

Printmaking
This was a fun project to make. We started out by cutting styrofoam to look like buildings and added details.  Then on watercolor paper we painted with yellow watercolor for the day and blue watercolor for the water.
We used black acrylic paint for the builldings and added the paint with a brayer for cover the styrofoam.  Placed the strrofoam over the yellow and pressed down then turned it over and pressed down again over the blue for the reflection.  This was done by a ten year old.  The best thing about this project is that once you prepare the styrofoam you can paint this project over and over again using different colors!

If you ask me what I came to do in this world, I, an artist, will answer you:  I am here to live out loud.

Emile Zola

It's cherry season!

So we painted big, bright, and beautiful cherries.

Super easy painting project
First we picked a backgound color.  We painted two red circles, shaded the right side of the cherries with green acrylic and added highlights with white acrylic.  Added the stems.  We used a pencil to outline where we wanted to place the leaves.  Filled with green acrylic added dark veins to the leaves and the painting is ready to take home and br placed in a frame.  Great job for a ten year old!

 Cherry blossoms
Media used was watercolor, acrylic and India ink
  1. paint background with blue watercolor or color of choice.  Let dry.
  2. Drip India ink to right side of paper then use straw to blow ink away from the edge of paper guiding ink in the direction desired.  Let dry.
  3. Add acrylic blossoms.  Five petals and use opposite end of brush dip in while paint to create centers.
  4. No more steps you are done!

Decortive tree
Not a cherry tree to go with our theme, but a beautiful and fun decortive tree.
I was shopping at our local Hobby Lobby store when i found this one inch hole punch and I had to have it.  I punches holes until my fingers hurt and now have to figure out how to use all thes holes!
Well, not to hard to use them up and the trees turned out to be so much fun to make.

Next Week
We will be doing some printmaking.  Will be fun.

I have no special talent.
I am only passionately curious.
Albert Einstein

Wednesday class we painted with watercolor.  We painted different techniques using pan watercolors, cryon watercolor, and liquid watercolors.  On this painting we used liquid watercolor.  We dripped watercolor with a dropper and  moved the paper back and forth mixing the colors.

This was created by Anna, she is ten years old.
Then we drew a flamingo and paited using the techniques we just learned.  the light blue water we added salt to give the water movement and the dark blue sky we applied seran wrap to give the sky texture. At the end we touched up and added the eye to the flamingo.
If you are new to watercolor check out Artist Rita Squier's blog she has watercolor techniques that very helpful when you are starting out. it's  ritasquier.blogspot.com

Art is you being Free from all of the wolds heaviness

Once in a while you just have to play with tempra paint.

We used black construction paper and dipped lids and tuna cans in tempra paint then, we splattered paint on it!  gotta try it.

Put any of  these beautiful paintings in a frame and your walls will look amazing!

The Lodi Street Fair was today

For those of you who have been following me since October 2012 you'll remember the nightmare I went through not finding my spot.  Setting up then having to move because I was in the wrong spot!  Well I was prepared this time and because I don't like to be late anywhere EVER, I faced similar problems again.  It is the hardest thing finding your spot in the dark!!!!! Thank goodness I found someone with a flashlight!  Add that to my list for October Fair.
It was fabulous,  I met beautiful people and saw my relatives I don't get to see ever.

Mixed Media Art classes this past week we worked with acrylics.  We made a Van Gough painting of Starry Night on paper and we made some pretty awesome cats inspired by Pinerest and we changed the designs on the cats.  This was painted by an 10 year old.

1.We started with blank paper.2. We drew the cats. 3. Filled with design 4. We painted the background.

Canvas painting by 8 year old

For this painting we had a limited palette.  We mixed colors and added several layer to reach the perfect background for our Egypt painting.

After we painted the background we drew the pyrimids and painted  the shilloettes.

Next canvas painting is June 1, 2013
We will be painting a bottle of perfum in acrylics.
